Ste Osmane is a friendly village with a recently renovated church, pinic area and marked walking trails. It is particulary attractive during spring and summer when the carefully tended flower beds are in full bloom. The village has been awarded 3 "flowers" and a special prize in the national "Fleurissement de France" classification.
Nearest shops are located at the two neighbouring villages of Tresson and Evaille, (both approximately 2.5 kms) with large supermarkets at Le Grand Lucé, St Calais and Bouloire (all about 10 kms).
Interesting local towns included St Calais, La Ferte Bernard, La Chartre sur le Loir, Vendome - all featuring vibrant markets, traditional architecture and picturesque rivers.
The City of Le Mans with its Plantagenet Old Town and city walls, impressive cathedral and race circuit is easily reached in a 30 minute drive. Excellent food markets featuring local produce are held in front of the cathedral three times a week, with other quarters hosting markets on all the other days. The Loire Valley chateau towns of Blois, Amboise and Tours are within an hour's drive.
Your hosts have prepared a series of self-drive tours starting at Le Cèdre and taking in local sights and tourist activities such as Troo's troglodyte dwellings, the pretty chateau and gardens of Courtanvaux, wine tasting at Ruillé sur Loir, walking or moutain biking in the forest of Bercé and the activity lake and beach at Marcon. Suggested picnic stops and restaurants ar included in the itinary as well as detailled driving directions. Other itineraries available include the Chateau of the Loire, the Alpes Mancelles and the Normandy Landing Beaches.
Attractions for children include water parks, zoos, train rides, nature reserves and theme parks.
